I’m currently in Minnesota (my birthplace) with my family, enjoying our annual summer pilgrimage to the land of lakes. In packing for this trip, I brought trendy white summer jeans for dinners out, striped poplin shirts for crisp mornings by the beach, a classic black linen vest for quick jaunts into town, and an easy summer dress to throw over a swimsuit while on the boat. Now, did I wear any of those things? Absolutely not.
I’ve spent the past four days wearing the same coffee-stained grey crewneck sweatshirt and my comfy black workout shorts, which I haven’t even worked out in or washed. One of the great pleasures of being on vacation (in my opinion) is not giving a fuck what you look like. So sure, I could tie a bandana around my neck to look chic or don a sweet vintage t-shirt while at the farmer’s market, but I’m too lazy to dig through my duffle bag and do so. The only time I want to devote to my look is to bend down and pick up the crumpled clothes I’ve placed on the ground the night before. So, if you think you’re the only woman who isn’t “styled” for her trip… think again.
I’ll also let you know this outfit was perfect for the car.
And for running after my kids as they attempted to hurl themselves down a hill.
It was ideal ATV driving attire.
Hiking appropriate.
And works for relaxing before dinner.
